Customs Information for American Visitors

When visiting Canada make sure that you have proper identification (a PASSPORT is a requirement when travelling into Canada and back into the U.S.A), as you will be met by one of our Customs officers upon arrival.

If you arrive by private aircraft or boat be sure to check in with Canada Customs by calling 1-888-CANPASS. American residents re-entering the U.S. who have been away for more than 48 hours may bring back $400 worth of goods duty free, one litre of alcohol and one carton of tobacco.

For U.S. residents returning after less than 48 hours, the allowance is $200 per person and no alcohol or tobacco.
