This area of the country is famous across North America for bird watching and as a student I used to dream about visiting here. My career brought me to the Pelee Island Bird Observatory a short time ago and I still have trouble believing that I get to live here and do a job that I love. My family on the island consists of staff and volunteers from across the world, coming together to understand more about the birds that use Pelee Island as a stopover on their astonishing bi-annual migratory journeys. But the island is more than just a stopover for birds. Not only does it provide critical habitat for wildlife, but it also sustains a diverse and inspiring community of people that live here. |
